PARTNER FAMILY TIMELINE
No definite timetable can be established, as Habitat is a volunteer organization and building is a complex process. It usually takes 18 months or so to complete a house.
APPLICANT FAMILIES:

reviews application
checks credit and references
makes home visits and interviews eligible applicants
accompanies eligible applicants to visit a Habitat home and home site of interest
makes recommendation to PVH Board of Directors
of families to become Habitat Homeowners
_____ Board Meeting – vote on Family Selection recommendations
_____ Family Selection notifies families of acceptance or denial
_____ Families not selected receive Letter of Denial
PARTNER FAMILIES:
_____ Meet with their Family Mentor before signing the Letter of Acceptance and Publicity Release form
_____ Families selected receive Letter of Acceptance & Publicity Release Form
_____ Applicant Family returns signed Letter of Acceptance and becomes a Partner Family
_____ ATTEND
HABITAT VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
(before
sweat equity hours can begin at the homesite)
_____ Perform 16 hours of sweat equity in the first two months
_____ Payments toward the $500 down payment start after construction on their home begins: $100 installments for five months billed by the PVH office
_____ Attend First Time Homebuyer’s class
_____ Meet with building committee representative & mentor regarding house design options
_____ Attends the Orientation Potluck Supper
_____ Five months prior to completion, the Letter of Intent is sent to the Partner Family. The family signs the letter and returns it to the Executive Director.
_____ Sweat equity hours MUST BE COMPLETED prior to moving in
_____Home is completed and “Certificate of Occupancy” is issued
